Dan's Resumé

Monterey, CA

The Monterey Aquarium is a unique place to visit. First it is built inside an old Sardine Cannery that was part of old Monterey. The fish and other animals on display are all from the local area. Instead of like many aquariums that display fish from all over the world, the Montery Aquarum trys to recrete the environment for local species.

The Kelp tank was part of their first development. This tank has living kelp extending from the floor to the top of the tank. This tank then has a wave motion machine to give it the natuarl wave action.

Recently, they added the Deepwater Tank that displays the fish found further from shore. I here you will find baracuda, tuna fish, bonita and sea turtles. This tank you walk up to glass and look down as well as up to see everything.
